Anatomy of a Chaplain

A challenge for us all.

Height:
Tall enough to see over today's problems into a future filled with the promises of God.

Vision:
Clear and undistorted. Tears not unusual. Able to read between the lines.

Hearing:
Can listen attentively for long periods of time. Able to distinguish between what is essential and what is superficial in conversations. Capable of hearing what is not said—understanding the message behind the words.

Voice:
Quick to speak of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Often laughs. Able to communicate in the language of earth and heaven.

Hands:
Ready to help support the weak twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Shoulders:
Broad enough to carry heavy responsibilities.

Feet:
Ready to walk anywhere in order to share the God of all comfort with the hurting. Often seen trying on other people's shoes.

Heart:
In love with God. Full of compassion for others.
