Working with those
who are sick, recovering or dying can be very
difficult... and very rewarding. Patients/residents, family
members and medical workers need someone to turn to
for understanding and hope.

HCMA
is the Healthcare Chaplains Ministry Association (formerly Hospital Chaplains' Ministry of America).
Founded in 1939, the HCMA is a nonsectarian, non-profit faith mission organization that recruits, trains, certifies, places, and oversees Chaplains in healthcare facilities and hospice programs throughout the world. HCMA is a growing agency sought out by both independent facilities and healthcare corporations (including acute care and long-term care facilities, and hospice). HCMA Chaplains serve throughout the globe. [more

from Patients/Residents, Families and

often what keeps a Chaplain going year after year.
While our service is to the Lord, it is these

Could
you be a Chaplain? If you are a seminary student, pastor, commissioned or ordained minister, missionary or other person with an active ministry background, you could be a part of the HCMA team. Applicants must be able to raise their own financial support, though many hospitals do provide a full or partial stipend. Once accepted, HCMA will provide an intensive and extensive clinical pastoral training program (4 Units--1600 hours) that will prepare you to minister as a Chaplain in a healthcare setting. [more

Becoming
an HCMA
Chaplain
|
|
You
can make a difference. As a faith mission, the HCMA relies on individuals for support, encouragement and prayer. You can be involved by supporting an individual Chaplain, by supporting the HCMA organization, by referring a potential HCMA Applicant or a hospital to the HCMA, by referring patients to a Chaplain, by praying for HCMA and its Chaplains, or by applying as an HCMA Chaplain yourself.
